SPECIAL EVENTS
Auditioning for the New ActorWhat you need to get in the gameActors who are new to the craft often feel overwhelmed at their first auditions. They've spent their time working on monologues, scenes, and improv; becoming better actors. What few people realize is that auditioning has little to do with acting. Auditioning is a separate skill that must be developed in addition to consistent acting training. This four week intensive will center around the following points: ·Creating stand out personal marketing ·Script Analysis: Quickly finding the sense in breakdowns and sides ·Cold Reading: Making bold choices on the fly and pulling it off ·Movement: Relaxing in the frame ·Focus: Owning your space when the cattle are lowing ·Interview: Talking to anyone about anything…for two minutes ·Monologues: Why you need one, how to choose one, and what to do to grab the director's attention Classes start on Sunday May 20th from 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm at del Corral & Associates. The workshop meets four times between 5/20/2012 and 6/10/2012. The cost is $200. Scene study begins at the end of June. Teacher bio: Carmen Torres grew up in her parents' ballroom dance schools where she earned her status as studio brat and learned a few things by watching her folks teach. She got serious about the whole thing at the wizened age of ten when she won her first national ballroom dance title and discovered Shakespeare. Since then, she graduated with a BA in Theatre Performance, toured Europe twice with different productions (The Tempest and A Midsummer Night's Dream), gone to grad school twice (for MFAs in Acting and Filmmaking), directed some really cool stuff (The Klucking of Hens, The Food Chain, The Painting), and worked with some phenomenal people on some really amazing projects (Treme, the NOLA You're Different Here Campaign, Hotcakes, Confession, SFT's Julius Caesar). In her spare time, she earned certifications to teach ballroom dance and Zumba. She's also done a fair amount of fight choreography (Love Games, I Want Sex All the Time, Julius Caesar) and more than a little yoga. Carmen currently assists with special projects at del Corral & Associates and is collaborating with agents in New York and Los Angeles on an exciting new Acting curriculum. del Corral and Associates Phone: (504) 324-3782 Toll Free: (877) 997-5688 | ![]() | The Three Rs of Voiceover |
